Transport is a subject that seems to engender passionate views and not always positive ones! My role is often to help clients cut through preconceived ideas and provide the clear evidence base upon which they can then develop objective-led schemes and strategies. My aim is to deliver transport initiatives that are balanced in nature and meet the wider socio-economic needs of communities.

Education: MA Transport Economics, University of Leeds (1998); BSc (Hons) University of Southampton (1996); Transport Planning Professional accreditation

Areas of Expertise: Business Cases & Appraisal, Economic Impact Assessments, Transport Strategies & Policy, Transport Scheme Development & Funding, Monitoring & Evaluation.

Jon has recently joined Regeneris as an Associate Director to head up our transport division. He brings over 19 years’ experience as a transport economist having previously worked for SYSTRA (formerly JMP) and Halcrow.

He has a wide range of transport-related skills encompassing transport planning & policy making, economic appraisal and business case development, as well as impact assessments of transport investment on wider economic performance.

Much of Jon’s work has involves the development of strategies to enhance transport provision across local authority areas and town centres. This involves generating a detailed understanding of issues and opportunities affecting transport network performance and then identifying and prioritising scheme interventions. Often this work can be in support of Local Plans, with a focus on ensuring sufficient transport provision to support housing and employment growth aspirations.

Jon also leads on the development of detailed business cases and funding submissions for transport schemes, managing multi-disciplinary teams in producing robust assessments of whole-life costs and benefits. He is also experienced in the subsequent monitoring and evaluation of implemented schemes.

A key aspect of Jon’s work involves working effectively with a broad range of stakeholder groups to generate consensus around the transport objectives, and subsequent solutions, and to then ensure accountability in delivery.

Away from work, Jon enjoys walking and cycling and would love to find more time to play golf but seems eternally distracted by DIY projects!
