Evaluating Innovation Projects for Keele University

Hatch Regeneris has been appointed to lead the ERDF summative assessments for two major Keele University business innovation support programmes. These are part of a series of university-led investments, aimed at supporting the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire economy.

The first project, Business Bridge supports healthcare and med-tech firms with innovation support and the development of products and services through innovation vouchers and collaboration opportunities with academics and clinicians at the University Hospital North Midlands.  The second project, the Mercia Centre for Innovation Leadership, supports the development of future business leaders through a series of six 2-day workshops and provisions of up to 20 hours of one-to-one support from industry experts.  Combined the two programmes hope to support over 100 businesses, deliver 23 new jobs and support 23 new products and service to come to market.

Our work on the summative assessments will help to assess the continued relevance, effectiveness and value for money of each project which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the England 2014-2020 ESIF Growth Programme. Our findings will also help to enhance the delivery and impacts of successor programmes.

The commission forms part of a broader spectrum of evaluation work undertaken by Hatch Regeneris, on behalf of public and private sector clients. This includes evaluating the performance of projects funded by sub-regional, national and European agencies.
