Anthony Baber has spent his whole life in the Waterberg and is a descendant of one of the earliest pioneers in the area. A passionate conservationist, Ant and his professional guides provide a total bush experience by sharing their knowledge of the wilds. Tessa, with her influence from Kenya, has brought to the colonial home a stylish warmth in her use of classic furniture fashioned from local timber, fabrics and stone. 
You will be well taken care of and personally hosted by the friendly team at Ant's Nest. The homely but luxurious en-suite rooms can accommodate a maximum of ten guests. The main house has an open fireplace, a comfortable lounge with a small library, a plunge pool and a large open verandah offering an ideal spot for siestas. Ant's Nest offers sumptuous home cooking, and during your stay you will dine in a variety of secluded places, around starlit open fires, beneath a shady tree, or out in the bush at scenic spots. 
Ant's Nest was created to preserve the flora and fauna of this diverse region of South Africa. There are more than forty species of game on the reserve, including the rare sable antelope, nyala, oryx, brown hyena and white rhino. The reserve is also rich in birdlife, with more than 300 species of resident and migrant birds. 
A variety of activities are available to guests, including horse riding, game drives, walking safaris and guided visits. Ant's Nest has a stable of well-schooled horses,, from thoroughbreds to tough bush ponies, and caters to all riding abilities. Here you can enjoy long outrides across the reserve to track and view game. Ant's Nest has an open four-wheel drive vehicle available for game drives. Ant is renowned for his walking safaris, and will be delighted to escort you on foot to explore the diverse terrain, animal tracks, flora and fauna. During your stay Ant's Nest can also arrange visits to other local attractions, including archaeological sites and the rhino and cultural museum.
