  • Splinting is rarely indicated unless this facilitates function. Care should be taken to avoid development of dependence on splints<\/li>
  • Providing a boot, brace or splint for long term use should not be encouraged and clinicians should provide patients with appropriate education and instruction to reduce this practice<\/li><\/ul>
