Mirror Visual Feedback (MVF)

Aim: to reconnect the brain with the affected limb.

The mirror is used to provide the brain with information that is either missing or is not accurate to help improve sensory and motor pathways – this can help the brain better process the information it is receiving and reduce feelings of disconnection from the limb which can be painful and distressing. This also helps the affected brain side to learn from the unaffected brain side. This illusion can help to normalise sensation and movement in the affected limb.
